RC AC-130

Pictured above is the rc AC-130 ARF from GWS. It is under the name Cargo Trans Q. It has a wingspan of 45 in. and is 33 in. long. It uses GWS EDP 50 motors.

RC AC-130

The rc AC-130 from Advanced Scale Models (ASM) with a 100 in. wingspan. If you are looking for a giant scale, ready to fly airplane to use as a basis for your rc AC-130 this model should be considered. Construction materials are a plywood and balsa internal structure for the molded fuselage, reinforced with carbon. Recommended for power are either four brushless motors, .25 to .32 two cycle, or .30 four cycle engines.

The U.S.A.F. had Boeing take a total of thirteen Lockheed cargo aircraft, stuff them with a sophisticated computerized fire control system, the same avionics as the most modern USAF fighters, 25 mm Gatling guns, 40 mm and105 mm cannons, and gave them the name "Spooky." The nickname for prior Lockheed AC-130 gunships is "Spectre".

RC AC-130

If you like to power your rc airplanes electrically there is a 60 in. wingspan rc AC-130 from EAM. It uses 4 x 280 size motors. That's Bill Sorrell and his EAM rc AC-130.

The AC-130 can operate in all weather conditions and have the ability to support ground troops or take out separate selected targets over 1/2 mile apart with pinpoint accuracy.

RC AC-130

The ARF GWS RC AC-130 has a wingspan of 44 in. and length is 33 in. Included are four electric motors.

The gunships saw action over Afghanistan, Bosnia, Iraq, Panama, Somalia, and Vietnam.

Precision Cut Kits.com has kits and plans for three sizes of the rc AC-130. All are from Palmer Plans.

The Precision Cut Kits 1:39 scale rc AC-130 has a wingspan of 52 in. and a length of 31 in. It is designed to accept four Cox T.D. .051 engines, but is said to be easily converted to electric power. Weight is around 4 lbs.

The Precision Cut Kits 1:18 scale rc AC-130 has a wingspan of 87 in. and a length of 64 in. You can power it with four O.S. .25 FP engines. It should weigh in at around 11 lbs.

The largest Precision Cut Kits rc AC-130 is 1:12 scale. It has a wingspan of 132 in. and a length of 98 in. Recommended power comes from four MWS .49 rear exhaust engines. When ready to fly, it should tip the scales at just about 22 lbs.

If you haven't done so already, you may want to check out the rc AC-130 build thread at RC Universe about the 11 foot wingspan giant scale airplane. It is from Kit Cutters, taken from Palmer Plans. The build appears to have been going on for a number of years.
